"Those" girls

My friend Steven said he hates dating superficial valley girls. He says there are too many of them in California, and that he can't find a nice girl that he wants to date. I had a hard time believing that because really, what is a valley girl? Yeah, I get the stereotype: materialistic, expensive clothes, trying to have men wrapped around their finger, and consumed in vanity.

However, all the girls I know, no matter how smart, superficial, or pretty they appear, are ordinary people. I know a girl who is a so-called valley girl who was in the social crowd in my high school. Recently we've gotten to know each other through a summer class. I thought all she cares about is boys, parties, and her appearance. This is probably true to a certain degree. However, I realised how much can be assumed and how much of a person we can neglect, after learning how she exercises every day, manages work and school, and volunteers for Big Brothers Big Sisters by mentoring children from broken homes in addition to her social life. It's amazing how she can do all of that. She is outdoing her stereotype and most ordinary college students.

Never under estimate the valley girl. She can do a lot of good.

Well put Karen. As I always like to say "before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes."

Never underestimate anyone, right? I never rule out anyone unless I know them.

Ashley Tisdale = Valley Girl.

I just loved to see that,

and, it's true in the opposite as well, even the "What?!" girls turn out to be normal.
